Junicorn 2022 #28 - Opal by @fragmented_imagination (B Sanders)
"Opal unicorns can be an astounding sight. Even though they are mineral unicorns, opal unicorns are not as attached to underground dwellings as others of their nature. Instead, opal unicorns prefer to be out in the open and basking in daylight. Many believe this is because opal unicorns actually want to be seen. They tend to rub their bodies against something abrasive in order to expose their opal, and they will bathe and brush against leafy plants in order to polish the opal to a perfect shine. Because of this, they are often thought to be vain. Their opal is a common target of poachers, but, being mineral unicorns living by the motto 'look, but don't touch', poachers can only chip off pieces with bullets and flee with what they can before the unicorn decides that something needs to be skewered."
Another textured work which I found quite interesting to work on. I regret that I did not add some shine to the exposed opal on the unicorn because I think that would have helped it stand out some more.
