Junicorn 2022 #29 - Sapphire
Junicorn 2022 #29 - Sapphire by @fragmented_imagination (B Sanders)

"Sapphire unicorns live mostly in seclusion in the caves in which they emerged. They are considered some of the most valuable of mineral unicorns, and many towns with a sapphire mine have local specialists who can remove the raw stones from a dead unicorn without decimating the body. While this may come across as insensitive to a deceased unicorn, this is actually part of a sapphire unicorn's behavior. For reasons no one understands, sapphire unicorns will often leave their caves and spend time out in the open for up to a week before they die. The general consensus is that sapphire unicorns know that humans value the stones on their bodies and effectively give permission to harvest them after it has passed away. Otherwise, they are very protective and have been known to horribly gore humans who attempt to touch the exposed sapphires on their bodies."

I like how the sapphires came out on this unicorn. It's still a rush job, but that extra bit of work on the stones felt like it helps with the image a lot.
