Can you? ^^ It isn't so bad - the time it takes is nothing compared to the paralyzing fear that the next line I draw will just screw the whole thing up.
I ... wow. Thank you so much! I am newly motivated to maybe actually finish this! ^^

It has been forever. Yikes. My excuses pretty much run to the tune of college and the sievelike properties of my brain - sorry. Anyway, though I am still, of course, a terrible artist, I've gotten much better than I used to be - here, to help me prove it, is a WIP of Gina Torres, as Zoƫ from Firefly (which rocks, so if you haven't seen it, try to. Unless you have an impassable hate of all things Joss Whedon, in which case you should try it anyway ^^).
I'm uploading this now because it is taking me a very long time to finish her hair, so I thought I'd put up the WIP I saved instead of what I've got now. Anyway, I hope somebody likes it. ^^

I can understand how the hair would take a long time. You certainly picked a challenging subject with her. The facial features are perfect, I feel like I would recognize her even without the hair or anything else. Love the soft, smooth shading and how you emphasized her African features so that you don't need the skin to be darker to tell. In essence, you captured her very well here and I'm looking forward to seeing this image finished. Nice work.
