For me, shading is still more labor intensive than I like right now, hence why I generally avoid it. I'd have to say that the problem in this case is that there isn't sufficient contrast between the character and the background. I went through several versions of background, none of which satisfied me. I wanted to get this picture posted by the time you returned, so settled for this background as it bugged me the least (though that isn't saying much).
You're not frowning. You're supposed to be smirking mischievously. ;p Another victim of the contrast problem, I suppose. :/
As for Crocs, I probably won't.

Anyhow, I seem to lack in shading. I noticed you don't shade a lot, but the lack of shade in this didn't come out well.
Why am I frowning? I am a very optimistic person, you know that.
I like it on me, but I suggest that you never ever draw Crocs on a dog again.
Other than that, great work! I think it's even better than your previous character drawings! :) Good luck on your next work!
