He personally leads an expedition into the northwestern frontier to destroy roving ghouls and win the local communities' allegiance; the campaign reveals the ghoulish packs are being led by an organized tribe known as the Banahǫgg. He survives an assassination attempt by the "Death's Hand" ahead of the attack on the ghouls' headquarters in the ruined town of Noun, revealing the Banahǫgg are serving as proxies of the "Necrocracy of Baase", an undead kingdom and potential end-game boss. The incident spurs the Queen to commence a dedicated research project into immunizing the varreven species against the 'vampiric' races in anticipation of a future showdown with Baase (and/or the player state Formont).
