British army major and former SAS operative, one of several characters from the pre-DYOS universe cameoing in the Hack of Ages montage. I've had him earmarked for potential plot-relevant roles as early as DYOS X, originally as part of speculative plans for a story elaborating Rudolph Krieger's backstory, and more recently, the POPA–SIPPA conspiracy in At Plot's End. In the original setting, Chervile was as an exchange officer to the Russian army under the "Grand Alliance", fulfilling a somewhat similar function to Kirill Gedeonin as a spec-ops commander, intelligence operator, and interrogator.

• Despite being a character roughly as old as Krieger et al., I drew a complete blank on his name and had to dig up some old archives for this profile. His original age was given as 52, which is pushing the bounds for an active field operative.
• The name Chervile is unintentionally similar to the herb chervil, also known as French parsley. Coincidentally, I had toyed with changing the spelling to "Cherville" to evoke possible Norman ancestry: chère ville translates as "dear city".
• He wears a black glove over one hand to conceal an injury from a mission in Indonesia. In the cameo comic, his left is gloved, whereas original documentation states he conceals his right. I do not recall if this was a goof on my part, or a conscious switch.
• Chervile was modelled in The Sims 2, in which he bears an uncanny resemblance to Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith.
