Trapped in a Perfect World by @prisoner_of_egypt (Michelle Desormeau)
For our first session of Literary Circles (aka reading groups), I chose the role of Art Connector and Word Wizard. For the art piece, I did a sketch/cartoon of the little red-and-white-scarf-wearing penguin in his snow globe. I drew a soccer goalpost in the back-left corner, a bell hat in front, a rock star pin on the penguin’s chest, and the silver charm bracelet on his wing, all to represent Susie, and how she is just like that little penguin. He is ‘trapped in a perfect world,’ as her father puts it, just as Susie is trapped in her heaven, unable to help anyone on Earth below. Though she has everything she could want all around her, she longs to be back with her family, though that is clearly impossible.
Have not read the book, but I love how you connected the book with the picture. I really like the idea of penguin looking at the viewer showing perhaps the desire of something outside his world. Cute picture by the way.
