He looks male to me. He's cute. He reminds me of a young Genjo Sanzo from Saiyuki. Lovely shading on the hair, though parts of the body could be shaded better - the outline of shadow on the face particularly is a little blocky. Otherwise, though, it's lovely work. Love those big ears.
