Breakdown captions were also hastily updated from the old layout. 

This one was used during the 1984 strike, where technicians walked out following broken negotiations between ACTT and Carlton, and local programmes couldn't be played out before News at Ten - coincidentally, that programme was also TV Eye.

Carlton would suffer from several more strikes throughout the year, with one that even forced managers to control the playout themselves.
