The colour scheme and chest-eye remind me of Centipeedle from Steven Universe, which in turn reminds me of a friend's series One Summer that sites them in the buildup to a nuclear war—the Gems survive, but are inevitably corrupted, with Sapphire becoming a cyclopean fox-like creature.
