Hug Back
Hug Back by @Claidis (Lauren Rankin)

A sort of twin-image that goes with my "Lover's Hug" picture. Another interesting one to color, since I was starting to use my markers more.

Once again--beautiful coloring. You even gave the black shirt a lot of dimension! Do you use markers AND colored pencils? Again, I'm really interested in knowing your technique.

The faces, however, are really skewed here (more so than the Siamese cat image) -- if you removed the snout for a moment and drew a line down the center of their heads, then put the snout back on, you'd probably find that your noses are a little too much to the far sides of their faces. This is especially true of the male's face--a little less so with the female's.

The male's face--the eyes are in an almost frontal view (not QUITE frontal, but still there), while the snout is heading towards a profile view (again, not EXACTLY there, but heading that way).

I could try to do a redline/paintover, if you'd like.

Aside from that geometry issue, you've really got a beautiful sense of character design going on. Keep up the great work!

Yes, markers and colored pencils. This one was done with a 72 set prismacolor pencil and a 24 prisma marker set. Basically, it's just blending the two---using pencils atop markers.

Yeah, I get what you mean about the geometrical issues. I see now what I could have done with the eyes, and as for the snouts I have a difficult time devianting away from that common 3/4 view.

Thanks for the constructive comment! It was really helpful.
