Reyburn House by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

The sole surviving structure of Whangarei's original pioneer settlement was the home of Robert Reyburn Jr. Originally built circa 1870 on the river edge, it was expanded several times, with the last major renovation ca. 1900. Reburn and his wife Jessie moved to Auckland in 1910 and the house passed through several tenants before it was seized by the Northland Harbour Board in 1965 as part of site renovations. The Northland Society of Arts tenanted the house in 1966, and purchased it outright in 1984; Reyburn House was subsequently relocated 500 metres downriver to its present site. It is now registered as a Category 2 Historic Place by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
