The Metari family. by @The-Wizard-of-Zaar (The Wizard Of Zaar)
The Metari family.
A Yashan family from Nilo Timikos.
Married couple Eetan and Alesti Metari with their rebellious only child; their adult daughter Yanta Metari.
To add to this; going to gradually give some run down on Yanta's parents. Because they are deep and recurring characters.
Eetan and Alesti are a kind of power couple. An arranged marriage by two closely aligned families to build a stronger bond between them and create a potent political entity within the Yashan people, particularly one in favour of traditionalist Yashani. It is a marriage that had a happy outcome; as the two found a genuine love and appreciation for each other. Though they each hold the views of their parents and are committed their faction and it's ideals... Since their daughter Yanta was born, they've secretly agreed on an "The three of us against the world" mentality; as Yanta is their ultimate concern.
Eetan is a hero among the Yashan people; a Komen (Yashani warrior, somewhat analogous to a Kadar.) of great skill in both magic and weapons. He is a veteran of many skirmishes and slayer of several fierce foes- Though losing his right leg to him and barely escaping with his life; Eetan is the only man to have ever faced the dreaded Sargari hero Hadra Kir and survived.
Most Yashani people are tall, but Eetan is a tower of a man and in combination with his heavy, muscular physique; he inspires both feelings of intimidation and awe to those who look upon him. The clanking of his mechanical, prosthetic leg also adds to this. He has a deep, but mellow voice akin to the rumbling of thunder. He is often quiet in public and has an intense, but cool stare that unnerves lesser men- A trait he has passed down to his daughter.
Like many Yashan men, particularly a married man; he is wealthy through a combination of what he has inherited from his parents and his own success in business.
He currently holds post of the Guardian (One of the positions of leadership and government in the strange and cumbersome democracy of the Yashan people.) and with his wife Alesti, he fiercely advocates for the traditionalist agenda.
Eetan is also a life long and passionate lover of music; himself being a talented musician, conductor and writer of music. He is an avid supporter of the musical arts, hosting musicians and singers from all over in the small, private studio in the lavish Metari estate. Even inviting artists from the Free Republic and further abroad to perform and meet with other artists at his studio. His only disappointment in his daughter Yanta (And it is a very mild one) is that she has not inherited his talent and inclination for music, though she is still an enjoyer of music and small, weekly concerts were an activity for the whole Metari family.
Alesti Metari; a woman of many hats, she is a politician through and through. A highly educated woman even by Yashan standards, an adept mage, not only a traditionalist but also a devotee of the Yashan religion and has memorized both it's books (The Eternal Nation and the Treatises of master and slave.), is extremely well read, and has even read the Ranyin- Though she refrains from studying it for too long and too frequently, as many Yashani academics view it as psychologically harmful. Psychology being Alesti's most passionate and accomplished field of study. All modern day Yashan have libraries in their homes; but the Library that Alesti has built in the Metari Estate is truly impressive. She has an open door policy to any Yashan whom wishes to visit and read; libraries and reading are something Alesti and Yanta both love and a thing they bond over.
