GAZ ROCKS!!!!!
Bow to the Game Master!! by @tarysand (Taryn Sanders)
For reasons unknown I've recently started drawing Gaz a lot, and I think that's a good thing. I don't draw nearly enough of her. Funny thing is, after I watched the 'Tak' episode, I immediately disliked Tak, but oddly enough I found myself liking Gaz a whole lot more. Weird, huh? I never payed much attention to her on the show before, but now I really like her. I drew this Gaz according to my own tastes, so I guess you'd consider it stylized. As for the pose I have no idea why I had her doing that, but it looks like she's telling some pathetic gamer wannabe to kiss the dirt and bow to the one true Game Queen, so I think it works ^^ Fanart from: Invader ZIM Artwork © Copyright 2002 Taryn Sanders

Hey, great timing! I just-so-happen to be studying amateur psychology at the moment, and I've worked out why it is that you suddenly like Gaz more. In a show that is so infulential to all us gals, we need a female lead for the show to have the same effect. In the first season, we had Gaz. She wasn't really a lead. She was just a character who appeared every few episodes and had the the spotlight in one or two. Now, I know the staff's minds! They want to hold on to the female audience once their little crushes on the guys slowly fade away, so they decided to bring in a female lead who everyone will love and adore and worship. This came in the form of Tak, who, I'm sad to say, was nothing more than an over-glorified Mary-Sue. So, the many female fans who got so worked up waiting for Tak and were dissapointed (either eventually or straight away), turned to Gaz as a sort of refuge, and giving her the attention and worshippedness, (Great, now I sound like Angry Scientist!), which in the mind of the writers' should rightfully be Tak's. Or, maybe Tak's just naturally annoying and Gaz isn't. I personally think it's the latter, but i like wasting people's time over-theorising like such. Bon soir! -Graffito
ps. Lurverly pic! I just adore the pose.
You know, I think you may just be right my friend. I think another reason may be that Gaz squirted Tak with soda in that ep. Mwahahaha >: ) Seriously though, I think you hit the nail on the head with your psycho analysis (did I spell that right?). The 'Tak' episode seems like some Mary-Sue fanfic author just sent a script to the studio and it got made into an episode. Everyone raves, "Tak's so COOL!" and "Tak's so GREAT!" but I just don't get WHY. She doesn't seem all that special and awesome to me. In fact she seems like more of a Mary-Sue than an ACTUAL Mary-Sue! I'm not sure if it's the fault of the studio or the fanfic authors, but I think the problem is intertwined. I guess what I'm saying is: Thank God for Gaz ^^ Though I still do love Dib the best ^-^ But Gaz just seems a lot cooler now than I ever gave her credit for.
Oh yeh, I didn't like Gaz much either..'till I saw Bloaty's Pizza Hog, and Game Slave 2. I thought she was really cool. Everytime I take a "What IZ character are you?" test I usually get Dib or Gaz.. XD
Whether it's kind of drawn in your style or not it's still really cool.

Wow... my first S7 comment....
[shakes her head] Anyhow, though. Just thought I'd give my two cents about Tak. I agree with all you've said about her, but to me, her Mary Sue-ness was what made that episode funnier than most I've seen.
Think of it... she has every check-mark cleared on the S.I. list: She's got the cool boots, she's MYSTERIOUS [echo for effect], she's got more power than Zim could ever hope for, and all the students (including DIB!) fall for her without bothering to wonder why. Perfect caselist for a character who, in the regular Zim fandom, could do no wrong.
....and then Zim trounces her sorry Mary Sue arse anyhow.
Heck, he doesn't even blink an eye when she sputters out the Obligatory Mention of Zim Not Being An Invader that so many fics use to kick off a sequel-- what does Zim do with this? ..He kicks her ship to the nethers of space, not listening to a word, and giggles.
I dunno... I thought that was more of a fitting ending than any other canon reflection of Zim-fandom Mary Sues could've been. X3>
PS: I'd make some vague, end-all closing statement of worship here, but hopefully this blurb of mine will not have to be the last time we might ever interact online. (More specifically for now, I'm curious as to what computer programs you find best for coloring techniques. Grand stuff, this.)
Gaz looks so very cool here. XD And the radioactive flying squirrels--
Reviewers: --Hey! We're not--
Des: --are right! Gaz DID seem to become a cooler character after the airing of the Tak episode. I still think Tak was spiffy, despite her Mary Sue-ness. I think it's the way she says "Corporation." XD For some reason I really liked that. But enough about her. Gaz looks really spiffy in this pose, and she really does look like..."Bow before your master, puppy!"
I like the pose. :D
You know, oddly enough, the same with me. I think I like Gaz a bit more after that episode, because she actually pitches in with Dib, Zim and GIR to stop Tak's plan. She's one of those kinds who don't take crap from anyone. And that nothing can really harm her. Jhonen seems to do that with a lot of his other female characters(Devi, Tess, ect...). At least SOMEONE thinks that females more than what most men define them as.
Ahh, sorry. The artwork is purely wicked. In a very good way. Gaz IS the Game Queen. XD
