Not all residents in Piedmont are intrinsically dangerous. Some, like Ruby Castlin, have no real desire to interact with outsiders. These kids are generally drawn to Sarah’s dim light and act as custodians of the haunted factory, working to keep some semblance of order in Piedmont in the form of cleaning and performing maintenance on the facility.

Horribly mutilated by her own father, Ruby developed a tendency to constantly cover her scarred face. As she grew older while living in Piedmont, she learned to weld at an adequate level, mostly as an excuse to wear her now iconic welding mask. In death, she is almost never seen without it, to the point where many of the residents whisper rumors that her apparition doesn't actually have a face. This is just a rumor as Ruby is willing to take off her mask in front of trusted kids like Sarah and especially Rheena, her best friend.

However, Ruby’s friendship with Rheena, aka “the Blood Haired Butcher” and one of Piedmont’s most prolific murderers, has become a tumultuous one. As the years pass by, Rheena’s ghost has become more and more violent and has started demanding the same from Ruby. For now Ruby only assists in Rheena’s escalating madness but Sarah fears that the pressure from Rheena is slowly driving her down a similar path.
