CHARACTERS: Liam (the taller one) and Noel

OWNER: Me! Hello! :D

MEDIUMS: Felt tip pen (line art), Photoshop CS (cel colouring), Paintshop Pro 5 (touchups), downloaded brushes (background)

Yeah yeah yeah, I know… I already uploaded this pic, albeit in a different form, but this is what happens when Zen gets sidetracked on the computer – the original line art for this pic had been scanned in a long time ago, and I just happened to come across it two weeks ago at a time when I was thinking, “You know, I REALLY should be trying to colour something via computer for the very first time…” O___O;; Not to mention I’m trying to get myself more familiar with Photoshop instead of leeching off Paintshop Pro all the time, so I figured I might as well kill two birds with one stone. XD Hence, this is Zen’s first ever serious attempt at completely cg’ing a pic, behold the amateurism…! Laughs I’ve always been a really big fan of cel-shading but I’ve never been able to do it up to now, so for as long as I can remember, I’ve been mooning away tragically looking at all the lovely cel shading pieces everyone seems to be doing all around me and thinking, “How?? HOW?!?!?!” T__T But I finally came across a tutorial that made sense, and now the polygon tool is one of Zen’s best friends alongside dodge! ^__^

Colouring this was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, even though it was extremely time consuming. X___X Not good for the eyes either, these glasses of mine are getting more and more dated as I stare at the computer all the way up to 4 in the morning! Anyway, like I said before in my Side 7 description of the first version of this pic:

… these two characters are from an actual storyline I’ve been carrying around for awhile, but nothing has been finalised yet so I won’t put up any big descriptions. (Luckily for all of you! XD) As was mentioned briefly in the prose and above, featured here are Liam and Noel, who have a relationship of sorts with a strange foundation… to cut a long story short, their relationship started out as a bargain of sorts but as I’ve investigated in the prose I wrote, it doesn’t have to remain that way. I won’t elaborate further because I don’t know how to explain things without taking another 3000 words, so I’ll leave it at that! ^^;;; These two however are the only characters I have who could have a romantic relationship, so I’ll be paying close attention to them… and yes, Zen is actually a hopeless romantic at heart! So why haven’t I been drawing any couples for two years? O____o;; Er, I don’t know. ^^;;; Coff

Actually, to make up for it, I’m hoping to make this pic the first part of a small series based on the five senses, hence the title ‘Touch.’ Inspiration withstanding, I shall act on that idea! ^^ Stay tuned, I’ll see what I can do…

Yes, I’m getting so lazy that I’m cutting and pasting my own descriptions. :XD: Finally, this was also the first time I experimented with brushes, and if anyone wants to download the brushes used here (and more!) follow the yellow brick road!

That’s pretty much all I have to say, I’ve worn myself writing three different descriptions for this pic for three different versions… (prose, black and white version, coloured version) Faints You can decide which version you prefer! =P

Amateur is not a word I would use to describe the shading in this picture. The shadows in Liam's hair alone are captivating, as are the shadows on the beads and Noel's hands. I love your shading style, it's very unique and catching. The faces seem a little narrow and awkward here, but everything else is marvellously drawn and colored. Very nice work.

Blush ^__^;;; Wow, thankyou so much for the 10/10 comment! Hug I'm so glad you liked how the colouring turned out and that you didn't think it looked beginner-ish... lol, I need more faith in these matters. XD Hee hee, and yes, there's something funny about the proportions in the faces! ^^;; I've stared at this pic too long during the drawing and colouring process so I can't quite pinpoint the problem, but whenever I mirror the image I can see something's wrong... >< arr, well, I'll have to try and make amends in the next pic. ;) Anyhoo, thankyou again dear, I really do appreciate all of your encouraging words! :D Hands you an orange tree
