I wanted to give myself an exercise of tracing a stock photo for an environment and then drawing my characters in it and this kinda went in all sorts of directions, from openCanvas to Photoshop to Painter and IDEK what this is but I don’t feel like working on it anymore. I spent like 8 hours on it over the day.

It is a very lovely piece, and your work on the background looks good. The ocean looks natural, and the clouds a nice mix of formations. I am a little curious as to what the characters are standing on. I first thought it was a ship, but the marbled texture and jagged outline suggested something resembling concrete, so I thought maybe an bridge or an overlook. The foreground character looks well-scaled to the scene, and the coloring kind of gives him a contemplative or even a depressed appearance. The background characters look like there up to something else; I've had this thought that the yellow one is goofing around while the green one is getting a little annoyed with it. Overall, a very nice looking picture.
