@Thorvald: Wow! Some people just have no taste whatsoever.
Sketchbook Sword by @Agondray
Another entry of my high school sketchbook.
Nothing really special, just a sword design I came up with at one point. I ended up getting 4 points out of 5, probably because of how simple it is.
Enjoy!

@Agondray: I'd say "imagine trying to quantify the artistic process", but, er, AI-gen... :x
@Thorvald: Ech! Don’t even get me started on AI-generated “art”!
@Agondray: When you think about it, AI-gen is just search engine results with extra steps. Which struck me with inspiration, if-and-when I pull myself together, for a new(!!!!) comic where someone's trying to sell his browser screenshot of "original character do not steal": "It's the same principle, innit?" ||||||:^{3>
@Thorvald: There may be a few [and I mean FEW) benefits to AI-Gen; but where I currently stand, I’m strongly against it.
I’ve heard a decent amount of stories from people on other sites finding out that their art was being stolen, copied, and edited by others using AI programs; and then being claimed as “original” work. Honestly, it has gotten out of hand at this rate.
I normally don’t like to go on a rant, but with this kind of bullcrap going in the world, I just can’t help it sometimes.
@Agondray: /daily reminder the Luddites weren't militant anprims, they were fighting against the debasement of their livelihood.
@Thorvald: Now that I’ve read that, I guess it does make sense.
I think I see what you mean now. I remember watching videos of people talking about similar subjects, and they all had thinking to various degrees. I’m still a bit negative on AI-Gen, but now it’s at a somewhat lesser degree. I suppose it is not the tech itself, but rather the kind of people who profit from it and horde all of said profit that are in the wrong. Who knows, maybe my opinions on this subject will change in the future. Perhaps things will get better over time, or they will get worse. Only time will tell.
Thank you, Thorvald! It is nice and refreshing to have these kinds of conversations every once in a while!
@Agondray: Any time. ;3 My degree was political science, so suffice to say I've got opinions to spare. :^)
I won't deny, AI-gen can be technically impressive, but at the end of the day it can only ever serve as a crutch. A computer may be able to refactor the data in theoretically infinite combinations, but it can't transcend the boundaries of its input parameters—it can't create anything new. I had a previous chat with @Warehouse_Rabbit on the subject through the lens of an obscure 1990 computer game, and how what ultimately did it in wasn't the technical complexity or heterogeneous minigames, but the overreliance on procedural generation that ended up breaking player immersion: the whole failed to exceed the sum of its parts. Given two ostensibly identical pieces, why would we value the human-made over the computer's? Because we know one is the product of conscious effort: one is telling a story.
@Thorvald: Well, them robots CAN write stories, just don't expect Shakespear (or any type of soul for that matter) https://youtu.be/o-3Y0CdvwEw
@Warehouse_Rabbit: Cor that takes me back. Glad to know we had more in common than just L-coin and esoteric memes. XD
@Thorvald: They say everything happens for a reason XD
@VerseOfDreams: Thank you!
@Agondray: Anytime. May I introduce myself to you or no?
@VerseOfDreams: If you are comfortable with it.
@Agondray: Hello. I'm Nickolas/VerseOfDreams and I'm doing good, you? How'd today go for you?
@VerseOfDreams: I’m doing pretty good myself. Today went well for me.
I once got a middling score on a painting because "the brushstrokes aren't uniform", and I'm like "bruh I am literally copying Starry Night."
