Here at the Top of the World
Here at the Top of the World by @wolvenillusion (Keri Stone)

And here is the finished product. God.. I worked forEVER on this. My scanner completely devoured the colors. They look SO much better in real life. If you didn't catch the WIP upload of this, I suggest you do. it'll explain all the symbolism.

EDIT: here's the explantion taken form the other image file:

Let me start on a broad spectrum of the image. The left side objects represent the problems of today's society and the world. The top right and middle right things represent my personal problems, and the bottom right things represent what I stand for. There is a Dove with an olive branch in the center above me that is symbolic for of course, peace. now I'll go a bit more in depth.

The nukes and the eagle are for the war and death currently going on. PLease, no flames. I never said I was for or against the war. War is war and I do know that sometimes it is a necessity, my only poin here is that I'm sick of it, or at least of hearing nothing but negative things.

The smoke skull & crossbones represents several things. 1. General death and violence on the rise today. 2. Increase in smoking and narcotics 3. fatalities of war.

The Peice of land in with bones and the sign represents famine, one of earth's natural methods of population control. We're only making it WORSE by sending over food. When people are well fed, they reproduce, and further the problem by overstressing their resources MORE. The sign was thrown in there because I learned in my AP world class that our country is taking a VERY close track with the lifespan of the roman empire.

The laughing shilouettes, Brandon, and the bleeding Illusion marionette represent what happened to me last year. How I was treated for no reason, and what it did to me. I became a puppet basically. Brandon, their ruthless ringleader stands out of the shadows as a laughing slave master, dangling Ill by threads. his shirt reads "Source of self-destruction." a "master Of Puppets" refrence. if you don't know the details of this, read back a few entries in my xanga or Live Journal. I don't feel like elaborating on that one.

The wind tunnel sucking up the money represents our financial problems.

The "there's cooler ways to die" slogan represents my strong aversion to cigarettes and their smoke.

Cross= christianity. I'm christian.

My personal ten commandments are the unbreakable rules I govern myself as a person with. No sex, no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes, no extreme angst, and SEVEN TIMES REMAIN LOYAL.

And lastly, the center images:

Dove= peace

Mace, who slinks along behind me represents a median bridge between- 1. Good and evil 2.The world and myself and 3. Sanity and Insanity.

The world I stand on it both the earth.. the REAL world. Illusion is curled in the center in a fetal position representing MY world, and anything of non-reality, imagination, and the inner workings of my mind and personality, and what revolves around it.

Then.. here's me in the midst of all of this, hoping that there's something I can do to win over it all... trying to be hero of the day. I have no cape, no super powers, and no incredible strength, just the will to do something to help...

If you read this, please put an 'x' in your comment. I'd appreciate it.

Prisma marker, prisma pencils, prang pencils, sharpies, micron pens, bic mechanical leads, crayola markers, and hilighters.

I'm entering this in the Reflections competition tomorrow...

I admire you having the patience and drive to create something so large, involved, and meaningful. I can tell you put a lot of work into this and I can only imagine how long it must have taken you. The symbolism is striking, particularly the placement of all the symbols. I'd like to see a little more emphasis on the dove, since it plays such a principle and unique role in the picture. I can see you outlined it a little, which helps, but some more color manipulation would've helped it to stand out. That's just my opinion, though. Nice work all around. I have an X in my username, does that count?

A well-done and involved piece of work. The only real suggestion I have is to use a photo editing program to enhance contrast, to help bring out the colors your scanner washed out.
