The Sultan
The Sultan by @sultansgirl (Valerie Sloan)

This is a picture I did today - my first attempt at Watercolors. Its of a character of mine, he has been with me for about 5 years, roleplayed him for about 3 -nods- Isn't he just handsome?!

Anyone have suggestion how to do better next time though?

Good work for your first attempt at watercolor! You definitely have my praise on that.

The eye is shaped and colored too much like a human's eye for a horse (unless there's a reason for that...then ignore that bit of crit..) and by the angle of the head you should move the mouth up a tad. Maybe give the head more shape too.

But I don't want to overly criticize this because you seem to have an eye for where things go judging by the lines in the neck and breast, which is excellent.

Keep it up and don't hesitate to use photo references ^_^. They help a ton when it comes to figuring out the complications of equine anatomy.
