The Spirit of Melbourne, a container ship built in 2007 by South Korea and originally christened the Bahia / Bahia Grande until 2014; it was then serving under Hamburg Süd, a subsidiary of the Oetker Group (parent of the Dr. Oetker brand), but the company was sold to Maersk in 2017 and the "Hamburg Süd" trademark is now being phased out. Trying to figure out ownership details sent me down the rabbit hole that is international shipping: according to different sites, its owning company is Singaporean but its flag state is the Isle of Man. If you're wondering why there's so much legal skullduggery around ships and their crews, this sort of smoke-and-mirrors is how.
