For Bifrost's Nursery Rhyme Project - typical of me to squeak it in at the last moment, when the project's been open since March or April! :)
It's based on the nonsense rhyme by Edward Lear: The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea In a beautiful pea-green boat: They took some honey, and plenty of money Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above, And sang to a small guitar, 'O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love, What a beautiful Pussy you are, You are, You are! What a beautiful Pussy you are!'
Done with a 0.4mm ballpoint on a 5x3 inch cue card (that's why there's a hole in the corner), with dabs of white paint from a paint-marker. No pencils, no drafting, just pen. Art doesn't have to be expensive! ;) This style is normally reserved for doodling at school...this is the first time I've actually finished something in it.

Thank you! I love the way the rhyme goes on to tell of their travels - and of course there's the first two stanzas of its sequel, about the Owl and the Pussy-Cat's children. Simply magical.

I wasn't sure how to do waves in pen and have it look good (plus - I am a lazy person! :)) so I decided to go for a stylized storybook feel. Thank you for the constructive comment - I love 'em! :)
That remains one of my favorite poems to this day ^^ I just always like the surrealness of it, and this picture fits it perfectly! Of course when I see the little story in my head it's full of crazy, mixed up colors everywhere, but black and white is fine too! :D I love how you made the crossthatch all over, and the kitty is cute ^^ Grood job!
I really like this piece. That nursery rhyme was one of my childhood favourites. The artistic interpretation looks great. You are quite good with pen, I can't stand doing it, it is quite difficult to get it just right. You have talent. The wave contours make the water look a bit too sharp, but it hardly detracts from the overall effect. Great job!
