Factory of Madness: The Siren of Piedmont by @rollee (Rollee Bitterblossom)
The ruins of Piedmont Factory are haunted by the ghosts of the children who were once made to toil endlessly in its walls, all the way to their demise in the Night of the Fire. Trapped in the building they hated in life, each ghost is an echo of their own unique tragedy. Some struggle to maintain some semblance of their humanity, others are now completely lost in the madness of death. This is their story
Born with an agonizing breathing condition, Kelsey Bridget had always known she would die early, though she could’ve never imagined just how miserable her life would be. But after she awoke as a ghost, she gasped in a deep breath. It was cold, dusty, and stunk of ash, but to her it was the sweetest air she had ever taken in. No longer did it feel like she was drowning in her own lungs. Death had cured her of lifelong illness. Better than that, she felt stronger than she had ever felt in life. Dying was the best thing that had ever happened to her.
With an axe slung over her shoulders and covered in the dried blood splatters of her previous executions she announces she has come to free you of life’s misery. For Kelsey kills not out of hate but out of a genuine charity. Of course her dead blue eyes, beautiful they may be, fail to hide the deranged lunacy behind them and it does not take long before she begins hacking madly. Still, Kelsey remains one of the more survivable encounters in Piedmont as it is possible to talk her down, prove to her you truly desire a chance to live. She may beg you, argue with you, even torture you to give you a taste of life’s agony. But respond correctly and she may just stand down.
Sadly, more than one person who has survived an encounter with Kelsey, has returned to her years later. After suffering through the hardships of life, Kelsey’s offer now rings with a twisted clarity. Her survivors will sometimes actively seek her out, wanting to see the hauntingly beautiful maiden once more before this time accepting her solemn offer. Kelsey has become one of the few ghosts whom the outside world knows by her real name. A cult following for the “Siren of Piedmont” has formed outside of the factory’s walls and the concept of “Suicide by Kelsey” has gained appeal in certain sick circles. A fact that has made Sarah label her as “The most dangerous amongst us.”
“Never you mind all that now. Shh it’ll be over soon.” - Kelsey Bridget
If you liked this story and found the Factory of Madness interesting I have a group where I store the art and stories. Here
Reason and a cult following? My, we have certainly found a personality among this madness. I like how Kelsey seems to at least be personable instead of simply being an insane murderer. I know that there are previous characters you've shown that do not outright kill, but, with Kelsey, her danger can be found in her logical if incredibly bonkers evaluations. The fact that people are willing to return to her probably makes her just as lethal as any other kid, and her name being known outside of the factory just adds not only to the reputation of the factory, but the reality behind such a twisted world.
