Whanagarei Christmas Tree by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)
Norfolk pine on the shore of Whangarei harbour, New Zealand. Araucaria heterophylla is native to Norfolk Island, Australia, although the broader genus extends across the south Pacific and even into South America. Also known as the star pine, Polynesian pine, triangle tree, and living Christmas tree, while it is a conifer it is not related to modern 'true' pines.

@Thorvald: A rule of thumb when it comes to botany is that colder climate trees are always more flammable than hotter climate trees. This is a coping mechanism to combat the cold and explains why there are so many fires involving traditional Christmas trees. So it's always a win when you can find a Christmas tree that does what it's there for while also not being as flammable, which you do by searching in areas like New Zealand with hotter climates.
And the best part is they're not flammable.
