Wow! This is one of the most beautiful peices of art in your gallery. While I'm a big fan of your Invader Zim fanart, this and many others like it, is a nice breather from it...You can really see how feminine and fairy-like she is, plus she reminds me of Belldandy from "Oh! My Goddess" (eventhough I really hate that character, but for some odd reason, this doesn't bug the snot outta me at all). BTW, I read about what happen to you during X-mas and I'm glad to see that you are feeling much better now. Happy drawing!
My Butterfly by @tarysand (Taryn Sanders)
The inspiration for this came mostly from two things. The first thing that gave me the idea to draw this was the song 'My Butterfly' (Wowie! That's the same as the picture title!! :O ) by Gabry Ponte on his new solo album (Ah yes, yet another picture inspired by Eiffel 65 in some way ^~ Damn I love those guys). I'll admit, it's a weird, acid trip of a song if I ever heard one, but for some strange reason I like it, and while listening to the chorus (at least I think it's the chorus, I dunno, it's the part where some girl is singing in this reeeeeealy squeeky voice) I got this image in my head. Squeeky as this girl sings (maybe she's supposed to sound like a faery, perhaps? It's possible), her voice seems so sad and full of sorrow, and this picture sort of reflects that. The second thing that inspired this was a friend of mine, we'll call her Nel since I don't know if she'd want me to use her real name, who does these just amazing drawings that she was kind enough to send me a few of. I always thought I was a pretty good anime artist until I saw her stuff. It totally blew anything I'd ever done completely away, at least in my opinion (she doesn't believe me when I tell her how incredible her art is ^~ Oh, and she loves Eiffel 65 too, mwahahaha!), and I love her stlye SO much, so I wanted to create something as beautiful as she could, but still undoubtably 'mine'. So her drawings were the diving off point for me when I went to do this, and I'd like to take the time to say thank you, Nel, for inspiring me creatively in a way I haven't been for a long time now. You had me so in envy of your mind-bogglingly amazing drawing skills that I clawed my way up out of my artistic slump and rose to a level I never thought I could reach, and I'd have never known I could draw something like this if it hadn't been for you ^^ And I will admit, I am EXTREMELY proud of this little bit o'artwork. I haven't done anything this detailed or complicated in a long time, plus the image came out on the paper exactly as it appeared in my mind (which hardly ever happens). I wasn't going to color it at all except for the wings, but then I got goin' in Photoshop and, well, you know how that goes ^^;; But essentially I did want to keep most of the drawing white, so yes, that was intentional. I didn't get lazy or anything ^^ Hope everyone likes it! Artwork © Copyright 2003 Taryn Sanders

Taryn, you've outdone yourself. This is just... SO beautiful... the pose, the feel, the expression - s'amazing. And I love how you left the girl white instead of coloured, so it puts more emphasis on her wings (Which are really nice too, by the way). It's just so soft and calm looking... I have GOT to listen to this song.

Awww, thank you! ^^ Especially considering I forgot to mention... the first draft of this drawing is horrible! Seriously, I had to retrace this twice to get it to look like this. But of course that just makes me even happier that it turned out as nice as I got it ^_^ Really, it the rough sketch for this looks like crap. Maybe someday I'll post it just to prove that my pictures can reeeeeealy suck bigtime LOL
Well, technically it's a Gabry Ponte song, but who's being picky? He writes Eiffel 65 songs, he writes his own songs, so in my mind they're pretty much the same (even though I wish he'd used Jeffrey's vocals more ^^) I dunno, I guess I just like trippy-weird stuff like this song-- And that does shed a little light why I've had this 'Alice' obsession going for so long...
First, i want to say how extrememly beautiful and moving this picture is as a whole. I for one an extrememly honored in that i was an inspiration for this piece, and that i'm so happy that you were able to actually derive something from my butt-artwork (there i go again..lol..i'm such a blatant, self-effacing perfectionist...). I'm especially fond of the hair, since it really shows movement. Not many artists can really portray the dynamics of hair in the wind, much less do it as well as you have. And as always, i love the folds at the bottom of the "butterfly's" dress...absolutely gorgeous...
