Yoshido Huriama
Yoshido Huriama by @Glade_Faol (Glade Faol)

this is the main character for my latest manga, Dark Days. this here is Yoshido Huriama. and whats cool about him is that he can turn into a werewolf. as well as control them. his weapon is a basic katana, and he is 16 years-old. this is only a rough sketch, however. any comments? feel free to post 'em up! :)

I really like the design of this guy--the buckles on his arms especially are a nice touch. This is a good sketch, but I think that you should add a background, and his weapon. Weapons can be a really important part of showing who a character is! Maybe as a background, you could show a closeup of his werewolf form?

The lineart needs a bit of work, but like you said, it's just a sketch. For starting out with character designs, I really recommend "How to Draw Anime and Game Characters." Don't worry, it doesn't force you to draw in one person's style, no, it shows you how to create your very own, unique character designs, with tips on how to make details more realstic, and references for different poses and facial proportions.

I hope to see more of your work--I always like looking at the different characters people create. Good luck!
