Carlton was also a forerunner in elevating charity from short PSA bulletins, to telethons that'd become national events towards the late 80s. This was the promo to the 1985 edition, the first to be broadcast for 24 hours. To emphasize that, the symbol was created with an arrow, clock, and a dollar coin in mind.

And here, we see the logo behind Andrew Gardner and Sarah Kennedy, smiling in front of camera, in the hopes of people tuning in tomorrow night. Original footage here.
