Not sure why you think you've lapsed; the colouring in this image is rather nice. It's flowy and impressionistic without being overly detailed, giving it a nice soft feel, especially with the light purple/lavendar background.

Excellent work.

I love the loose colouring, and shading. And the colours you've chosen are very lovely and work nicely together. Beautiful picture.
