(- -; stars are haaard...) A little bit after 9-11 my school started doing the pledge of allegiance every morning. I never stood and did it, because I don't agree with it. Some kid later came up to me and started harrassing me about being a terrorist sympathizer! Well, that kinda pissed me off since the only part I don't agree with is the "under God." (which, by the way was added in only about 40 years ago.). So, instead of showing my emotions by leaving a nice satisfying lump on the kids ass, I went at it by drawing this.

Dude, I want to hug you. I completely understand what you mean. I never said the Pledge, it pisses me off that they have the Under God part, being a pagan myself, and knowing several of my friends are atheists and whatnot, it makes me feel like they think we're lesser citizens since we're not Christians. I am lucky that I never got crap about it, I guess because I always stood up since I respect the country I live in, even if I totally do not respect the way the pledge is worded. I am happy you drew this instead of lumping the guy up, even though that is probably what I would have done. o.O I think the stars are great, and I like the character's determined expression.

I feel the same way! I have friends that are Mormon, Pagan, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Catholic, athiest, whatever, and they are all just as much American as everyone else in this country! sigh I've had a lot of crap about that since then, too, but I stick to what I said before. I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one ^^;
