Damocles Character Reference
Pronounced "Damn-oh-cleez"
Once the heir to becoming the captain of a ship and once known as Damocles of the Sea, he was captured at a young age and is now Damocles the Slave. While he dreams for the sight and smells and feel of the sea where his heart belongs, they keep him far inland and mostly locked away indoors, working in their indoor gardens where nothing was put there naturally. He does offer a varied amount of services, getting more of a workload and getting "promoted" as he gets older and more mature. One time he lashed out, and they had one of his paws declawed without any sort of sedation or medication. They continue to threaten to get the rest done the same. They sometimes call him Damned-ocles.
The only thing he has to remember his family by is a gem that was given to him, a family heirloom, part of the first treasure his ancestors ever found. It has sailor proverbs written on it, one on the front being "Every source flows to the sea." He hides it by burying it in various places, but as he gets promoted to new buildings unexpectedly (after almost losing it once, but managed to sneak back) he ties it into his "clothes."
He was headstrong, but now he's been broken. I'm sure eventually he'll meet someone that will light his spark again... Like perhaps a visiting ship captain he needs to service?
