Wolfgang Sturm Character Reference
Bundesleet general in command of Task Force Falcon, my faction in Taniciusfox's Mobius: Total Chaos, AKA "Isekai: The Game". While the Bundesleet originates from the pre-DYOS universe, Sturm and his entourage were invented specifically for the game. Stranded on an alien world, he takes on the mantle of statebuilder, partly out of moral duty but largely to recover the space frigate they crashed with, and ultimately, get back to their original timeline. A seasoned, pragmatic, and adaptable commander, the Mobius episode is not even his first dimensional slip; however, he is not a career politician, and struggles to build a functioning civilian government to divest himself of the pressures. The game ended without meaningful closure, and I began drafting (though ultimately never completed) a comprehensive epilogue detailing the expected global reckoning between the resurgent "Freebotnik" alliance and the remaining independent states, in which Sturm would re-establish contact with the Home Fleet in time for reinforcements amid an endgame cataclysm harnessing the "Total Chaos" moniker to full effect. :P
- Sturm's (and the Bundesleet's) development during the game was, notwithstanding the IOT IV epilogue, the first time I paired off in-game actions with long-form narrative interludes. Tanicius was surprised and enthusiastic over the engagement, though I fear my and @GenMarshall's stories unwittingly built the foundation for the commodification of roleplay in his later games.
Albrecht
Sturm's aide-de-camp.
Generalleutnant von Buelow, Generalleutnant Reiner, Generalmajor Aularch, Brigadegeneral Kretzmann, Oberst van Daimann, Oberstleutnant Müller, Katczinsky et al.
Subordinate officers performing a variety of functions, alternating between sounding boards and counsel to Sturm's thought process.
Giuseppe Langardiologni
Italian scientist rescued from Rick O'Leigh, serving as an ersatz Dr. Ivan to discuss the nature of Chaos Energy.
James Stud, Klaus Meier
"Super agents" serving as espionage and commando operatives, respectively.
Barry
Native Mobian (badger) encountered soon after the crash-landing. A simple farmer, he is not involved with the mission's operations, but Sturm keeps in intermittent contact as a means of grounding himself with the locals.
Alistair Caradian
Native Mobian (lynx) installed as Chancellor of the Federation of East Segesni following a plebiscite. Nominally head of state, his practical authority is limited to the civilian sphere, and his actual power is dependent on how Falke allocates its resources.
Emperor Karl Franz
Ruler of Reikland from Warhammer Fantasy, which was transposed virtually directly into the setting. Sturm welcomes the Reiklanders' fanboyism, but recognizes them as a valuable partner and intercontinental ally, and strategizes a progressive modernization campaign to bring their industry up to par.
Nozomi Valentine
Legate of the "East Republic Company", an autonomous wing of the Republic of Coruscant mandated to colonize Mobius. Her diplomatic inexperience causes a number of faux pases that Sturm interprets as bully tactics, but a personal apology and pledge of military support persuade him she is a viable partner. The initial friction remained a sore spot for @GenMarshall as late as 2015, with Sturm becoming the IOT equivalent of Mr. Toyoda in terms of a monomaniacal point of reference in future grief.
