Born to human parents in a small village somewhere in Germany many years ago, Hans was the product of a union between his human mother and his forest spirit father, who had taken the form of her husband one fateful night. Hans was looked upon with suspicion by everyone in the village - including his parents - due to his bizarre behavior. He tended to keep to himself because he felt a mysterious "hunger" building inside of him, but suppressed it because he wanted to be a normal boy. One day when his parents and the other villagers tried to burn him as a witch, Hans finally succumbed to his dark, inhuman nature, and discovered that what he'd hunger for all along was life. The lives of his parents and their friends and neighbors. He took it all in his rage. Since then he has lived in the surrounding woods, still in the form of a friendly little boy, occasionally preying on hapless people who get lost.
