My 15th submission to DYOS VIII.

Most people know of NES by reputation. Prior to a near-decade-long sabbatical, that reputation was Abaddon spamming recruitment pitches everywhere he could. While I'd actually peeked in on NES long before my involvement in Imperium Offtopicum, I found it all too impenetrably dense to even begin to ask questions; this was a tongue-in-cheek play on its cliqueish atmosphere whose surface, later experience showed, I'd barely even scratched.

Not unlike Hacker Prime three threads and five years later, this was a bold play to bring an increasingly scatterbrained plot back into coherent focus. Despite statements on the Wiki, the superbots were created essentially off the top of my head and not based on CFC's brief experiment with a news bot that shuttered around the same time—I wasn't even aware it had been a thing! The rest of this history is entirely made-up and not alluding to anything site-specific.
