allow mods to modify submission ratings and something else

okay so hear me out, and bear with me, i;'m not certainly lucid right now but i'll try to be as clear as possible lol. i know this might sound like something mods could abuse too so keep reading pleaz

for a bit of a context as to why i am requesting this, recently, thanks to the fact that thorv has been going thru my whole gallery, i've been acknowledged by him by PM that some of my pieces were not rated correctly and i must raise their ratings, the thing is, that i tend take a while to see the messages, i am not online most of the time and  it can take weeks for me to come here and see the messages, then edit the posts for the correct ratings. so what if mods had the ability to modify the ratings themselves too, but not only that, the change of a rating by a mod would come with a message explaining the reason as to why that is and linking to the rating qualifier or rule that it should be on, then (and i'm taking this one idea from sheezy) the user could do a 'dispute' in case there is  a misunderstanding from the mod for the piece.

another one is something like, a separate  message/notification center for the mods/staff/system to give notices to users, when i get the red icon on my messages center i expect it to be from a user wanting to chitchat or something, but then it tends to be the system saying i got featured, or the messages from thorv i mentioned earlier :'p i used to be kinda anxious about getting messages in general,  i know there are more users like me who sometime panic at the sight of getting a sudden message , and then having to prepare mentally to open the mailbox and having to reply to a "hey watsup" or a simple "hi" which can take hours, days, weeks,,, but what if the message is a notice from staff? something urgent? i think the separation would make the users be more comfortable with the priority of messages,,, not sure if i'm expressing my point correctly :'p

but a little  "!" icon for staff/system messages aside the message center icon would make for a good separator i think (??

haha i but dunno what do u guys thinkkk

This is functionality that currently exists and is being made active for mods with update 5.24. However, we do reserve mods/admin changes to user uploads only to when a user is non-responsive or non-compliant. It isn't our first choice as we want the user to understand that there is an issue, what it entails, and how to fix it and avoid it in the future.

The ability to programmatically dispute a change is coming in a future update.

You're obviously in my head. I'm designing a whole new system for official admin/mod communications with users. It'll make it easier for us to track who's sent a message to whom (to avoid accidentally sending multiple messages for the same issue to the same user from different admins/mods), what the answers are, and it'll automatically send to both the user's email and DMs. Those messages will be marked differently in the DMs (probably as System Messages), but the separate alert icon in the message center icon is a good idea.

Aye, BK flying solo meant before I showed up, member roles were essentially split between Sysop/Everyone Else, and the back-end is being retooled to support a broader staff body. I've joked that even after getting Badged I was basically functioning as a hall monitor: first point of contact, but official action fell (and still currently falls) to BK. I gained some administrative tools with the 5.23 cycle, but while edit permissions were intended they apparently fell through.

Our current protocol is to request the user correct ratings first, to encourage and reinforce best-practice habits. If the user appears inactive, Staff will make the change at no fault. I'd say you've shown a good handle on ratings and my combing your old uploads is just clerical work, so if you're asking to waive procedure out of concern your correspondence will lag, with BK's sanction I think we can default to manual corrections in the legacy gallery. :3
