Like their Midlands counterpart, ATV London was forced to make fundamental changes to the company in the 1980 franchise round. The station was spun off from ACC, and to differentiate the difference, Central London was born out of ATV's ashes.

The new look was certainly fresher to the tired Zoom 2, and it was proved dynamic enough to be used in different settings.

Based on the Central symbol used in their 1980 proposal.
