Vesra by @The-Wizard-of-Zaar (The Wizard Of Zaar)
A Vesra is a Priestess of the religion of Agra, as well as the highest echelon of Agra's human clergy barring a Khaaz/Khaaza (Prophet/Prophetess). Within the religion of Agra they are seen as equals to the Drakoy Khaaza and the Bashilishkim.
Within Sargari society, a society where the religion of Agra is everything; Vesras are the absolute and unquestioned leaders of the Sargari people.
There are many prerequisites to becoming a Vesra; be Sargari, a woman, spend a certain amount of years as a Karia and all the while study and memorize Ranyin (The holy book of the Sargari, the direct word of Agra.) and attain various proficiencies and learning in subjects such as Kadryka (The Sargari martial art), various academia and the in depth learning of a particular vocation/occupation/trade such as tailoring, carpentry, farming, etc.
Then she must earn her tongue tattoo, by the intentional and personal killing of someone in the cause of Agra and her law.
Many Karia aspire to become Vesra, but few will ever be chosen by the Vesras to join their number.
Vesras are terrifying figures, of unparalleled skill in Kadryka, thr arts of stealth and assassination, of the magic that Agra has gift the Sargari people with and knowledge and understanding of her Ranyin and it's laws.
Vesras can literally become invisible and move about so with ease. They can kill with a gaze, astral project and can wield levitation magics so deftly that flight and the far, hard and fast launching of blades is child's play for them.
They are described as death in human form. They are the most respected, beloved, trusted and feared people in Sargari society.
Each Ashkandar (Temple of Agra) will house a number of Vesras, as well as the Karia and Kadarim sworn to them.
Within the religion of Agra, they are forbidden to show their faces publicly. Only allowed to reveal their faces to each other, their husbands, members of the lesser ranks of clergy being the Karia and Kadarim, Bashilishkim and a Khaaz/Khaaza. Those outside of this select few whom see their faces, the Vesra herself must slay and then subject herself to a great penance.
One among all the Vesras are chosen by them to be leader among them. Though they all must wear black kari as Sargari women do and a Vesra must, and mask themselves with a mask of a white face as a Vesra must.
The one they choose to lead them will wear white.
The Vesra uses her knowledge of the religion of Agra, and her knowledge gained in her learning before and after her ascension to her Priesthood to guide the Sargari people, she is an assassin and spy beyond that of even Kadar and she is an enforcer of Agra's will and laws above and beyond the authority of Karia and Kadar alike. It is the Vesras whom care for the Bashiliskim, maintains the relationship between Sargari and serpent, their ever ongoing spiritual journey makes them receptive to minor revelations from Agra via episodes of precognition and it is the Vesras whom have the keenest memories of their past lives than any Sargari.
