This is definitely my most ambitious parody to date and my most heartfelt interrogation of the state of DYOS. Going in I'd planned to make it big, which led to an almost year-and-a-half delay as I struggled to hammer out something approaching a central plot—partly as a kiss-up to Kan' and partly because I knew this would be the most 'on-the-nose' piece I'd probably ever be prompted for. Early brainstorms would have made it even longer as Hitler kept waffling at the drop of a hat and the generals did turn on each other, but I was already pushing the upload cap and I couldn't think of a way to smooth it out with what I'd already done. I described the end product as 'a shaky middle ground between preserving a coherent "storyline" and still managing to tell it with jokes ... you'll have to decide for yourself whether taken together it's all a clever allegory, or a burning trainwreck of tangential thought.'
