Fractured both mind and soul, the children of Piedmont live in a constant state of hunger. A gnawing feeling that something intimate is missing from their existence. As such they are drawn to those around them that still retain strong, focused personalities. While the specific state of politics in Piedmont can vary from moment to moment depending on who’s awake, it is widely accepted there are three members of Piedmont who hold the majority of influence. These are the quiet yet resolute Sarah, the charismatic but bloodthirsty Billy, and the wildly ambitious Eugene.
Sarah tends to draw the nonviolent ghosts of Piedmont. Often considered to be the custodians of the place, Sarah’s clique works to maintain order, both mental and physical. She uses her influence to hold back the other kids, trying her best to keep them from devolving any further. All the while her friends spend most of their waking moments fixing and cleaning the old factory in some fruitless attempt to bring things back to normal. Still one should not confuse Sarah’s pacifism with mercy. The madness has stripped her of most of her empathy for the living. The only reason she tries to hold back the others is because she believes violence to be mentally unhealthy for them. Unfortunately she also believes that they, ultimately, must come to that conclusion on their own and as such she will rarely physically intervene in a haunt with little more than giving an offhand warning to victims.
Relationships
Most kids had a good relationship with Sarah. In life she lived an overtly charitable life, helping where she could at sometimes great sacrifice to herself. Furthermore she is Isaac’s best friend and was close friends with Billy. Though like everyone else she’s hates Eugene, unlike most, she acknowledges that his current work has some merit to it and so is in a strictly professional relationship with him. All together, this makes Sarah one of the single most influential individuals in Piedmont. That said, this, combined with her other more recent strange actions, has actually made many ghosts extremely suspicious of her.
Despite being one of her most reliable agents, Chris Canis actually hates Sarah. Always having been good at reading people, he is convinced Sarah is hiding something. He only works with her due to his friendship with Isaac.
Sarah greatly pities the broken and will generally let them do what they want, hoping their debaucherous acts will give them at least a moment’s relief from their suffering.
Sarah dislikes Kelsey for her nihilistic fanaticism and is openly disgusted by Karen, who’s company of rats revolts her.

Cults of Personality: Sarah's Custodians by @rollee (Rollee Bitterblossom)
Some of you will notice this is actually a repost of a journal from the Factory of Madness Group. Its because I didn't realize you can post literature pieces like this at the time. I wanted this to be in this format (for organization purposes) and I'll replace the journal with something more appropriate for the front page of group.
If you liked this story and found the Factory of Madness interesting I have a group where I store the art and stories here
If you want to see the cover art, that can be found here
