Waka Kereru
Waka Kereru by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

A Side 7 exclusive! Maori bird snare near the kiwi bird sanctuary at Te Puia. Designed to catch the New Zealand pigeon (kereru), it would be sited near trees with their food sources; the trough was filled with water, and when the bird dipped in to drink, its head would slip through a noose mesh. Here the mesh has been stretched above the frame for display (and presumably to keep from trapping any errant birds).
