Orenda's Dress by @fragmented_imagination (B Sanders)
Another sketch I did, this time for Orenda. It's title is "Cultural Contamination" due to the fact that Orenda's stories deal with a world that had contact with Japan back in WWII. Some aspect of Japanese culture blended with the native people, including clothing style and language. This particular dress mimics a simplified junihitoe (which the Gians thought was actually just a really colorful, single garment), although the front is actually sewn shut, so it has to be pulled over. This was another one where I wanted to have some element of design. In this case, it is a landscape of Gian which features large rock islands floating over a valley, one of many results of Gian's naturally chaotic environmental magic. The fabric itself is quite expensive and only ever used for formal wear by the wealthy families of Gian; Orenda's usual outfit is more indicative of casual wear worn exclusively by the same families. With this one, I also decided that Orenda will be one of the characters who changes hairstyle on occasion.
