Shortly after their relaunch, ITV debuted a unified identity, where Carlton, however reluctant they were, had to replace their symbol because of their capital regional broadcaster status. 

Unlike Tyne Tees, their 1988 symbol wasn't abandoned altogether, but relegated to local programmes instead. 

But, like TVS, their generic wasn't the best, as English Markell Pockett reduced the capital C to an abstract circle, surrounded by the paintbrush colours.
