Flag of Korea (KaiserIOT) by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)
The "United Democratic People's Republic of Korea" (a nod to Nukeknockout in the original Multipolarity) was my country in KaiserElectric's superhero-themed KaiserIOT and its sequel. Its backstory drew on elements from the webcomic Spinnerette, canonizing Issues 16–18 through references to White Heron and Colonel Glass. The peninsula was devastated by the alien invasion, and in its aftermath the South launched an invasion of the North to prevent P'yongyang salvaging technology that might aid the C–K breeding programme, achieving victory in three months; several DPRK generals were retained for a reconstituted armed forces as part of postwar amelioration efforts.
While the new régime was relatively stable, leveraging reverse-engineered alien technology to revive the economy, Korea gained a reputation as the "black hole of supers" due to a criminal mastermind named Hwayeombangsagi killing every hero that had tried him; the game's prospective long-arc concerned the government's efforts to defeat him once and for all with the help of techno-industrialist Kwang Jae-geun, which I may yet flesh out as a proper story in future.
Korea had a negligible presence in the first game before its early death; in KIOT2, it was part of the UN mission to thwart the Osterkamp Insurrection.
Originally uploaded to the defunct IOT Wiki in 2020, this is a remake of my own PNG raster, correcting a mismatched palette and updated to reworked geometry of the source South Korean flag.
