1980 franchise round proved to be an uphill battle for ATV.

ACC had to dilute its shares and sell its Elstree Studios, just to get an approval from IBA. Fortunately, the authority allowed them to keep their, but a rebrand is clearly needed to differentiate itself.

Alas, a rebrand is needed, so they came up with a stripey logotype that was tested on promos in late 1981. As the thin lines extended, a fresh ATV flashed in front of Midlanders' eyes.
