Forbidden Love

I finally found it! The old drawing I intended to upload for Valentine’s Day! It only took about a year!

Anywho, this is yet another piece I’ve done in my high school years. I think I remember pulling off a late-nighter trying to complete this so I can enter it in another art show. Like with my previous “dragon girl” drawing, this one was one of several that won the ‘Jurors’ Choice’ award. I actually even had a few people offer to buy it from me at the time. I turned those offers down though, mainly because I formed a personal attachment to it. But I guess that means you fellas now get to view it!

I went for a bit of a manga/anime style for this piece. I wanted to give the characters a different take in design than how angels and demons are usually depicted. I gave the demon guy some more “draconic” features instead of the more traditional “goat-man” like depiction associated with his kind. As for the angel gal, instead of the typical “bird-winged human with a shiny halo atop the head” look, I went for a design that was a bit more alien; but still recognizably celestial. I gave her skin that was more of a pale milky white hue, and the sclera of her eyes is light blue instead of white. Instead of the traditional halo, I gave her “celestial” tattoo markings, which I based off the symbols and markings of the “Aether” mod for Minecraft. The child in between them is, of course, a hybrid between the two beings. I gave her features of both parents to reflect this. All of this was drawn and colored on a 18x24 piece of paper!

The story of this drawing shows the forbidden love shared between an angel and a demon. Their union resulted in the creation of a hybrid child, which I have affectionately call a “Demgel”. I am very proud of this piece and to this day is still one of my favorites.

Hope you enjoy this as well! Happy Valentine’s Day!
