The opening for the regional newscast Weekend Journal, seen in the North. It was ABC's answer to IBA, who urged for more local commitment in keeping their franchises. The tri-coloured lines were reused from their test colour ident, which never went on air but appeared in print advertisements. The show proved to be a success after the first broadcast in 1970, and carried on until the dawn of the New ITV in 1993.
